sBooks is a service and product from beingmeta, inc., a privately-held C Corporation chartered in Delaware and based in Massachussets. beingmeta is a lean spin-off of MIT's Media Laboratory and also develops and provides technology for semantic services, intelligent search, and natural language processing.

To date, beingmeta has been self-funded by founders and their families. As part of launching and expanding sBooks we are carefully contemplating additional investment. In thinking about investors, we are respectfully reminded of a story:

Two gentlemen in ties are visiting the MIT AI Lab in the early 80s, where their ties stood out like orange jumpsuits. They walk up behind a graduate student who is looking intently at a Lisp Machine display. One of them asks "what are you working on?" The graduate student turns around, notes their attire and gazes at them, and asks, without skipping a beat, "Do you have money, or do you know something?" The man who had spoken smiles and replies: "I have money." He points at his companion and says "He knows something."

We're interested in investors who know something, have a passion for books and publishing, and (of course) have money. It would also help if they were amused and not offended by the preceding story.
