Because sBooks is an open platform, you can publish with sBooks by simply putting your book up on a website and handing out the address. If you edit your HTML file according to our HTML API, it will simply work with sBook readers, including our open source web-based reader. You can use our free automatic tools to convert your HTML file to work with sBooks.
prepare. We encourage you to take some care when preparing your books so that they can remain a pleasure to read across changes in device dimensions, font size, or other variables. The various sBooks readers and converters do their best to produce books which are robust across devices, but a little attention beforehand can help a great deal. Our preparation guide describes some of those settings and you can find more detail in the documentation for the sBooks HTML API.
convert. Our automatic tools take prepared HTML and generate HTML designed to be read with native or web-based sBooks readers or converted into formats for various e-reading devices like Amazon's Kindle or Barnes & Noble's Nook.
distribute. If your book is openly available on the web without cost or registration, readers can use the cloud-based annotation and sharing functions of sBooks for free. If you're restricting access to your book by charging a price or putting it behind a paywall (which is fine with us), you can register the book's REFURI with us and purchase tokens for your readers. These tokens will let us know that they have legitimate access to your books and enable them to use sBooks' social and sharing tools around your content.
we can help. Alternatively, you can distribute your sBook through our site, which may make more sense. When we distribute your book, all the access to sBooks' annotation and sociable reading services happens automatically. Your book is stored in S3, Amazon's cloud storage service, which provides fast and reliable access for your readers. Unless you specify otherwise, your book will be access controlled so that only authorized readers can access it on S3. We currently use PayPal for all our transactions (though we may offer other payment options in the future).
